The Dodging Duck Brewhaus, Boerne, TX

Our friend, Tim Savage (may he rest in peace), told us about the Dodging Duck, and in October 2017 we finally were able to visit.  The brewhaus is located across the street from a river, which has a nice walking path and plenty of ducks.  Because it was mid-October they had plenty of pumpkins around, and children were welcome to carve them - and take home what they created.

We actually visited two evenings in a row, because we enjoyed it so much the first evening.  For the second, we had two of our grandsons with us, which made it even more fun.

The food here is pretty good - it is pretty much pub food.  They had a couple of desserts on the menu.  We tried the brownie dessert the first evening, and on the second, four of us shared the pumpkin dessert.  The desserts are big enough that one can easily make 4 people happy.

The beer menu is limited, but the beers are quite nice.  The best one was their seasonal offering, a cask-conditioned blood orange IPA.  The first evening we had a sampler, which consisted of four beers, a nice introduction to the brews they offer.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating available; indoor is quite limited.  Both evenings we chose to sit outside, and it was very pleasant, especially since smoking is limited to one small table near the business sign.

It is a little bit of a drive from San Antonio to Boerne, but definitely worth it.  We will go back when we have a chance.
